Senior Associate, Rights & Licensing

As part of WEBTOON Entertainment’s Rights Department, this position supports the company’s IP licensing relationships, both inbound on behalf of Content, Marketing, and other stakeholders, and outbound on behalf of Licensing and Business Development.
A. Outbound Licensing
  • Assets: Prospect, identify, source, gather, produce, and secure clearances for assets needed by WEBTOON’s agents, licensees, and retail partners, with emphasis on graphic files. Build and maintain asset library and provide access and/or delivery to partners. Support development of style guides and other collateral materials.
  • Approvals: Own primary responsibility for managing, trafficking, tracking, and executing approvals of all licensing components, including product concepts, designs, prototypes, final products, sales and marketing materials, and other promotional collateral. Develop and implement inter-departmental procedures for managing submissions, routing as necessary to multiple internal and external stakeholders, including Legal, Content, Marketing, and/or creators. Develop brand assurance procedures and collaborate in development of guidelines for WEBTOON and its licensed IP to ensure that all licensed products reflect WEBTOON’s quality standards and brand/property goals.
  • Marketing & Sales Support: Research, maintain, and provide licensing partners with accurate, comprehensive, and current information for marketing and sales purposes, including company and series performance, accomplishments, future plans, and other notable facts and activity. Conversely, disseminate licensee, product information, and activities internally to support WEBTOON’s trade and consumer marketing activities. Gather and disseminate, and secure clearances for videos, advertisements, and other promotional materials.
  • Business Support: Research, maintain, and provide accurate, comprehensive, and current data relating to WEBTOON-controlled IP to support and collaborate with Business Development and the company’s agents and consultants in the development of the company’s strategic plans for licensing programs. Ensure timely receipt of forecasts, statements, payments, and other required communications from licensees, agents, and other partners.   • Partner Relations: Build team-oriented relationships with agents, licensees, retail contacts, colleagues, and other key stakeholders to foster collaboration and develop opportunities to coordinate cross-promotional activities between WEBTOON and its licensing partners.
  • Archive: Organize and maintain a library of licensed product samples and collateral materials, distributing physical and/or digital samples for legal, compliance, informational and support purposes.
B. Inbound Licensing
  • Licensing Assets: Pursue and obtain from licensors all available assets, information, reference and promotional materials, and guidelines related to the use of licensed IP on behalf of WEBTOON departments such as Content and Marketing, international WEBTOON platforms, and sister divisions such as WEBTOON Unscrolled. Build and maintain asset library and provide access and/or delivery to internal stakeholders.
  • Approvals: Submit, manage, traffic, and track editorial and promotional materials sent to licensors on behalf of Content, Marketing, international WEBTOON platforms, and other stakeholders. Timely and clearly communicate licensor feedback and guidance.
  • Business Support: Work with WEBTOON Finance, Operations, Life Cycle Management, and other inter-departmental and interdivisional colleagues to ensure timely delivery of forecasts, statements, and payments and fulfillment of WEBTOON’s other obligations to licensors.
  • Partner Relations: Build team-oriented relationships with licensors on behalf of WEBTOON to foster collaboration and develop opportunities to coordinate cross-promotional activities with licensors, fellow licensees, and other partners.
C. General
  • Support Head of Rights, Head of Business Development, and VP-Head of Content in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other business functions.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
  • 5-10 years in IP licensing, with brand assurance roles preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Extensive knowledge of the IP licensing business and best practices regarding brand assurance, operations, sales, marketing, and category management.
  • Familiarity with comics, digital publishing, and entertainment businesses a plus
  • Ability to develop strong, effective working relationships with licensees, licensors, agents, consultants, creators, and other partners
  • Proven track record of operating independently and multi-tasking effectively, managing high volume workflow to meet tight deadlines while maintaining close attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills
  • Facility with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required
  • Familiarity with database apps such as Airtable a plus
